    A new, comprehensive system has been established in Colorado for reporting sick, dying or dead birds that might be carriers of either avian flu or West Nile Virus.

  2. Hantavirus

    Local health officials are advising residents and visitors alike to take precautions against coming in contact with rodents or areas infested by rodents.

  3. Plague

    Plague is an infectious disease of animals and humans caused by a bacterium.

  4. West Nile Virus

    The Pitkin County Environmental Health and Natural Resources Department has had a mosquito surveillance and West Nile Virus (WNV) educational program since 2003.
