Trail repairs to begin June 9

ASPEN – Paving work to repair segments of the Rio Grande, Brush Creek and Basalt-Old Snowmass trails will begin June 9 after rain delays postponed the start of work. Detours will be in place to route trail users around the work zones.

Paving and shoulder repairs on the upper Brush Creek Trail, on the edge of Snowmass Village, are scheduled June 9-12 and June 15-16. Trail users will be detoured onto Brush Creek Road.

Work on the Rio Grande Trail between Gerbaz Way and Upper River Road is scheduled June 11-13 and June 15-18, with trail users detoured onto Upper River Road while the project is underway.

Repairs to the Basalt-Old Snowmass Trail between Holland Hills and the trail’s junction with the Rio Grande Trail will take place June 16-20 and June 22-23. Trail users will be directed to use the Rio Grande Trail to travel between Basalt and Old Snowmass.

Pitkin County Open Space and Trails has contracted with Frontier Paving for the projects.

In addition, repairs to an eroded section of Smuggler Mountain Road are scheduled June 9-19. Vehicular traffic will be restricted; pedestrians are advised to use caution.
