3D Visualization

Explore Pitkin County and the surrounding area in 3D. The ESRI scene below was created from approximately 6,000 LiDAR-derived Digital Elevation Models (DEMs). The underlying LiDAR data was collected between 2016 and 2020 by various agencies including Pitkin County, the City of Aspen, USGS, the Colorado Water Conservation Board, and more. The scene has a resolution of 1m. At this resolution, you can identify irrigation ditches, historic mining roads, alluvial fans, rock outcrops, and more in detail. The LiDAR data for Pitkin County is available for download on our Data Download page. LiDAR data for areas outside of Pitkin County can be downloaded from the The National Map; an application hosted by the USGS.
