Dog Licenses

Pitkin County dog licenses may be purchased online using our convenient licensing portal, or in-person at the Pitkin County Sheriff's Office locateda at 530 E. Main St. Suite 103. 

Individuals using the online licensing portal will be required to upload proof of your dog's rabies vaccination. 

Individuals who choose to register their dog in person will need to bring proof of their dog's rabies vaccination with them.

• Annual Pet License (Altered Dog)

  Annual Pitkin County Pet License Tag for any spayed or neutered animal. Valid with a current rabies vaccination certificate for one year from the date of purchase.

  Annual Pet License (Unaltered/Intact Dog)

  Annual Pitkin County Pet License tag for any intact or unaltered animal. Valid with a current rabies vaccination certificate for 1 year from purchase date.

  "I'm a Local" (Spay or Neutered) Pet ID Tag

  Make your dog a Pitkin County local with our custom "ZG" dog licenses. The $22.00 fee is a $12.00 "ZG" tag purchase + the $10.00 annual licensing fee. This tag can be renewed annually with current and up-to-date rabies vaccination certificate uploads and the annual licensing renewal fees ($10.00/ year altered/$20.00/year intact) for the registered dog using this ID.

  "I'm A Local" (Intact) Pet ID Tag

  Make your dog a Pitkin County local with our custom "ZG" dog licenses. The $42.00 fee is a $12.00 "ZG" tag purchase + the $20.00 annual licensing fee for intact animals. This tag can be renewed annually with current and up-to-date rabies vaccination certificate uploads and the annual licensing renewal fees ($10.00/ year altered/$20.00/year intact) for the registered dog using this ID.
