Marriage License Procedure During COVID-19 Shutdown 

Our offices are currently closed to the public due to COVID-19. The following are instructions for obtaining a marriage license during this time.

  • Complete application in the Online Marriage & Civil Union License Kiosk

  • Print the proof sheet with the transaction id#. If you do not have access to a printer, be sure to write down the application transaction #.

  • Schedule an appointment to complete the marriage license process by clicking the button below:

  • At appointed time, both parties come to the Clerk & Recorder office at the Pitkin County Administration Building, located at 530 E Main St, Aspen, CO 81611. There is a drop box in the foyer to drop the following:

    • Valid IDs for both parties (Driver’s License or Passport)

    • The proof sheet or the application transaction #.

    • Check for $30

  • Place the above in the Drop Box and call 970-429-2716 to confirm that you are here.

  • Our staff will collect the above items. We will merge your information in our system, complete the transaction and print out the application and Marriage License while you wait outside. We will return your IDs, get your signature acknowledging the oath on the application and give you the Marriage License with instructions for completing the Marriage Certificate.

Please remember that after your ceremony, the Marriage License with the completed and signed Certificate will need to be returned to our office for recording within 60 days. Please call our Recording Department at 970-429-2716 with any questions.
