(GEOMETRY) A countywide GIS parcel layer was established in 1994. The parcel linework has since been curated from various recorded deeds, legal descriptions depicted on plats, AutoCAD files, and georeferenced plat maps; all from licensed surveyors. This requires a best-fit line work strategy using known features on the ground (using orthophotography) to close gaps and prevent overlaps. This means it is only an approximate representation of property boundaries and therefore not a licensed surveyed legal land record. Positional accuracy errors may exist from several feet to several hundred feet. For the definitive description of real property, consult the records held at the Pitkin County Clerk and Recorder's office.
(INFORMATION) Attributes associated with the property geometry are joined from the Pitkin County Assessor's database for purposes of Pitkin County Government use, and under no circumstance shall Piktin County be held responsible for errors, omissions, or inaccuracies due in part to content, timeliness, or completeness of the Parcel data. A known timespan from recordation of real property changes to the moment the data is made public can be up to sixty days. Therefore, Pitkin County is not responsible for misuse or misrepresentation, nor any decisions made or actions taken or not taken solely based on the Parcel data and the information provided herein.
