Pitkin County Open Space and Trails is conducting a public survey on use of the Wilton Jaffee Park Sr. River Trail as an off-leash dog area.
The river trail has been informally used by dog walkers as an off-leash area, but it has not been formally designated as an area where dogs may be off leash, but under voice and sight control. The goal is to clear up ambiguity in what regulations apply on the trail. Designating the Jaffee River Trail for off-leash dog use would require approval by the Open Space and Trails Board and the Board of County Commissioners.
The survey seeks public input on allowing dogs to be off leash, but under voice and sight control, along a mile of the trail directly south of Jaffee Park near Woody Creek. The trail parallels the Roaring Fork River in this section.
The survey is open through Feb. 15th. Information and a link to the online survey can be found at www.pitkinOSTprojects.com.
