GIS Day’ showcases free county mapping tools for the public
The event on Nov. 15 includes demonstrations of tools like property reports and mailing lists.
PITKIN COUNTY, COLO. (Nov. 9, 2023) - The public is invited to a Community GIS Day Open House to
learn about mapping tools, view an award-winning 3D printed regional terrain map, ask Pitkin County
GIS staff questions, and provide feedback to staff about data and tools that should be provided to the
public in the future.

A short history of Pitkin County GIS

Pitkin County, Colorado first acquired data in the spring of 1991, which was then used to establish the
County’s Geographic Information System (GIS). Over the past thirty-two years, we have developed
over sixty-five geographic data layers, seven aerial photo acquisitions, and launched the Pitkin Maps
and More web-based mapping tool. Locals, visitors, and area businesses have unlimited access to
browse spatial information via Pitkin Maps and More, use curated tools to create property or community
development reports, design custom maps, or download geographic data.
