A Memorable Afternoon of Community, Music, and Stunning Views on Aspen Mountain!

Pitkin County, CO (August 11, 2025) – Pitkin County Senior Services is thrilled to announce the launch of its brand-new summer event, Picnic on the Mountain, a high-altitude lunch gathering set against the breathtaking backdrop of Aspen Mountain. This unique experience will take place on August 26th at the Wedding Deck, inviting locals aged 60 and better to celebrate summer, community, and the stunning beauty that makes Aspen a truly special place to call home.
Picnic on the Mountain will be on August 26th at the Wedding Deck in Aspen Mountain. Sign-ups are now open, but space is limited, so be sure to call 970-920-5432 to reserve your spot for yourself and a guest, both of whom must be age 60 or older. The event kicks off with check-in from 11:30 AM to 12:00 PM, where you can pick up your Gondola pass and lunch wristbands at the base. Lunch pick-up will begin at 11:45 AM near the Wedding Deck, and throughout the event, enjoy live music from local favorite Dan Sheridan. Remember to bring a water bottle (or you can purchase a drink at the Sundeck), a blanket or folding chair (some chairs will be available), and don’t forget your hat, sunscreen, and your best mountain picnic attitude! Please note: A short walk on a path and a few stairs are required to reach the Wedding Deck, so comfortable shoes are recommended.
