PITKIN COUNTY, COLO. (January 22, 2026) – The Pitkin County Incident Management Team, in coordination with X Games and local public safety agencies, is encouraging residents and visitors to plan ahead for transportation, parking, and personal safety during X Games Aspen 2026, taking place January 23–25 at Buttermilk Mountain.
Daytime access to Buttermilk Mountain is not ticketed and remains open to the public during regular operating hours. Ticketing begins when the mountain closes and evening events and concerts begin. Tickets must be purchased in advance to enter the venue for nighttime programming. No tickets will be sold on site. Event and ticketing details are available on the official X Games website.
With the return of evening concerts and nighttime events, attendees should expect increased crowds, particularly after mountain operations end, and are encouraged to arrive early and plan departure transportation in advance.
There is no on-site event parking at Buttermilk Mountain during X Games; however, limited free parking is available at the Brush Creek Intercept Lot (Highway 82 and Brush Creek Road), with complimentary shuttle service provided to and from the venue. This lot may fill quickly during peak hours afternoon and evening, typically between 4 p.m. and 9 p.m. Paid parking is also available in downtown Aspen and Snowmass Village, with dedicated X Games shuttle service operating from the Rubey Park Transit Center in Aspen and the Snowmass Village Mall in Snowmass Village. The Roaring Fork Transportation Authority (RFTA) will provide expanded service throughout the Roaring Fork Valley during X Games weekend. Community members and visitors are strongly encouraged to use public transit. Route and schedule information is available at www.rfta.com Accessible drop-off and pick-up is available at the base of Buttermilk Mountain. From Highway 82, turn onto Owl Creek Road and follow posted signage to the designated area in the Buttermilk Parking Lot.
Public safety agencies will maintain an enhanced presence throughout the venue and surrounding transit areas during evening events, and attendees are encouraged to help keep X Games safe by acting responsibly, including refraining from illegal drug use and excessive alcohol consumption, and understanding that intoxicated individuals may be denied entry or removed from the venue for safety reasons. Guests should not leave bags, backpacks, or personal items unattended and should immediately report any unattended or suspicious items to event staff or law enforcement. As evening temperatures can drop quickly in mountain environments, attendees are advised to dress warmly, plan for extended time outdoors, monitor changing weather conditions, and remain aware of their surroundings- especially during concerts and other high-traffic periods - by following posted signage and directions from event staff. Drivers should expect increased traffic and congestion throughout X Games weekend. Transit-only lanes, posted speed limits, and all traffic regulations will be strictly enforced.
