Aspen Airport Business Center Microgrid

The County is partnering with Holy Cross Energy and the Roaring Fork Transportation Authority (RFTA) to build an integrated clean energy microgrid that supports resilient essential public services in the Aspen Airport Business Center (AABC). The project connects existing facilities with the nearby 5 megawatt Pitkin Solar farm and a new large-scale battery energy storage system that can create an energy island to generate, use, and store energy in the event of a grid outage. The project has been generously supported by grant programs offered through the Colorado Department of Local Affairs.
