All Pitkin County Government offices will be closed on Memorial Day, Monday, May 30th. Memorial Day ceremonies will be held at Noon at the Roaring Fork Veterans Memorial, located on the East side of the Pitkin County Courthouse at 506 Main Street, Aspen. The public is cordially invited.
A tribute honoring soldiers of the 10th Mountain Division who served in World War II will be presented. Veterans are encouraged to wear items of military memorabilia. Following the ceremony, Aspen Elks Lodge #224 is hosting a community picnic at Conner Park next to Aspen City Hall.
Congress is asking all citizens to observe a moment of silence at 3 p.m. in
memory of our nation's fallen military men and women. Grassroots Community TV,
Channel 12, will run interviews of local veterans participating in the the Library of Congress Veterans History Project throughout the day.
