Pitkin County Government’s new website goes live on Monday, March 2nd with a new look and URL. The new site will be located online at www.pitkincounty.com with a look and feel that officials hope will improve the online customer experience.

Pitkin County has shared a website with the City of Aspen for the past six years. The new Pitkin County-only website is expected to reduce customer confusion about which of the two sites they are viewing.

“Our hope is that the public will find the new website easier to navigate and to conduct online business with the county,” said Community Relations Specialist, Pat Bingham. “It was sometimes difficult for our constituents to know which jurisdiction they were dealing with on the shared website. Our goal is to make county government information transparent and easy to access and reduce the amount of time spent roaming the website in an attempt to conduct business with us,” Bingham said.

New features on the site include a “Notify Me” link that allows customers to sign up to receive email updates and meeting agendas from county departments they’re interested in following, including the Board of County Commissioners, Open Space and Trails, Healthy Rivers and Streams, among others. Another new feature on the site is a “Report Concerns” link that will allow citizens to send an email directly to the department they feel can best deal with an issue or concern.

“In general the new site will make it even easier for citizens to take advantage of the many self-service tools offered by county departments,” Bingham said. “From voter registration and vehicle license plate renewal to building permit requests and researching property valuations, a lot of county business can be conducted online.”
