Trails at Sky Mountain Park and Glassier Open Space will close for the winter on Friday, Dec. 1. Pitkin County Open Space and Trails reminds the public to observe these closures, intended for the benefit wildlife during the winter months. The trails reopen on May 16, 2018.
Closed trails at Sky Mountain Park include Viewline, Ditchline, Deadline, Skyline Ridge, Cozyline, Airline and Cozy Pony. Rim Trail North, Seven Star and the Upper North Mesa Equestrian trails will also close Friday, reopening May 16, 2018. Brush Creek Trail will close Dec. 1 through March 31, 2018.
Also closed for the winter, starting Friday, are the Perham Creek Trailhead, Red Wind Point Open Space, Wheatley Gulch, Bionaz Gulch and the Aspen Valley Ranch Trail (a.k.a. Red Canyon Trail).
The stretch of the Rio Grande Trail between Catherine Bridge and Rock Bottom Ranch will close Thursday at 5 p.m. It reopens April 30, 2018 at 5 p.m.
