[ARCHIVED] Denver TV Rebroadcast Via Pitkin County Translator Discontinued Until Further Notice

Elephant East Fall

Residents who rely on Pitkin County’s “free TV” translator system for major network programming from the Denver market will be without that service until further notice. The Translator Department has been notified that the satellite service that made it possible to re-broadcast stations from the Denver market is currently unavailable.

Television channels via translator that are not currently available include channel 2 (KWGN), channel 7 (KMGH/ABC), channel 9 (KUSA/NBC), channel 12 (KBDI/CPT), channel 20 (KTVD), channel 31 (KDVR/FOX) and channel 59 (KPXC/ION).

Stations that remain available via translator from the Grand Junction market include 4-1 (FOX), 4-2 (CBS), 18-1 (PBS), channel 18-2 (VMe), channel 18-3 (Create), GrassRoots TV and Pitkin County’s government channel, CGTV.

“While we have no way of knowing just how many residents rely on the County’s mountaintop translator system for television, we know that there are many people who who depend on our system for popular programming including the Denver and National News,” said Pitkin County Analyst, Kara Silbernagel. “We’re working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible but we don’t know yet how long that could take,” Silbernagel said.
