[ARCHIVED] Aspen/Pitkin County Airport Seeks Public’s Vision for Future Airport Terminal

Aspen Airport Runway

The Aspen/Pitkin County Airport is providing another opportunity for area residents and airport users to express their vision for future airport terminal and eastside facilities developments. A Visioning session will be held at the Limelight Hotel (355 South Monarch Street, Aspen) on April 16 beginning at 4:30 pm.

Participants at this event will be asked to consider four aspects of the potential development of a commercial terminal and other east side redesign: sense of place, sustainability, neighborhood compatibility, and passenger experience.

“We look forward to a strong turnout at this event,” said Airport Director, John Kinney. “The airport is the gateway to our community and we want to ensure the development there reflect this community’s values.”

This will be the first in a series of public meetings during the 24-month-long environmental assessment process. Public input gathered at these sessions will be combined with input generated by a 45-member Citizen Input Committee that convened in February.

“The EA process will help us take a close look at the potential impacts of airport redevelopment from the perspective of noise, safety, socioeconomic and environmental concerns, and other possible consequences. Everything we do at the airport must meet the community’s and the federal government's high standards of scrutiny,” Kinney said.

Background on all planning projects at the airport is available at www.aspenairportplanning.com.
