[ARCHIVED] Online Feedback Sought on Airport Redevelopment

Airport

In an effort to widen the opportunity for feedback on the Aspen/Pitkin County Airport terminal/east side redevelopment project a series of questions will be posted on the county’s online engagement website www.pitkincountyconnect.com.

“In addition to the many in-person public input sessions we are holding, we want to give the public who might not be able to attend these events a chance to comment,” said Airport Director, John Kinney. “The views of our visitors and 2nd homeowners are also critical to our getting the big picture,” Kinney said.

Four sets of questions will be posted online relating to sense of place, sustainability, passenger experience, and neighborhood compatibility. Each set of questions will run for approximately two weeks and the comments will be used to help guide the airport east side design process. Participants must first register at www.pitkincountyconnect.com. Once signed up, the public can submit comments on these topics as they go live.

This public involvement process is part of the Environmental Assessment for the Aspen-Pitkin County Airport for a new terminal/transit center and redevelopment of the east side of the Airport to meet safety and efficiency needs. This Assessment is being conducted to meet the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), which is required to disclose environmental impacts prior to moving forward with a federal action. Part of this process includes completing an up to 25% design of these redevelopments to help understand the potential impacts.

More information on the airport redevelopment planning process is available online at www.aspenairportplanning.com.
