Aspen/Pitkin County Airport – At 11:13 a.m. Wednesday, Aspen Tower declared an emergency for Commercial Flight SkyWest 3150, a CRJ 700 that was 17 miles out, due to a report of electrical fumes in the cabin. Airport Operations, fire and mutual aid responded and staged for the aircraft's arrival.
The American Airlines aircraft, inbound from Chicago, landed safely at 11:24 a.m. on Runway 15 and taxied over to the Airport Terminal, parking at Gate 6. The flight had 53 passengers and crew on board; they deplaned the aircraft through the boarding door. Airport Fire investigated the incident and released the aircraft back to the airline. The incident was closed at 11:41 a.m.
